Quick reminder: if you’re looking for something to do this Easter Saturday (11 April), come down to Ruby’s Lounge in Belgrave for a beer with friends and be treated to the rockin’ sounds of Dusted Orange, Spark Iris and The Rock City Riff Raff. Adam, Marki and myself (Doctor K) will be on stage first to crank out some Nitidus tracks. Much fun guaranteed, so come on down to Ruby’s Lounge. Only $10 at the door.
Full details on Last.fm
After winning his fight with cancer, lead singer Taz is back on stage again with the pure rock mayhem that is CREECH! This celebration of life, triumph and rock n’ roll will also feature DLG, Nitidus (Adam, Marki and Doc) and The Humanz. Get down to the Northcote Social Club (301 High Street, Northcote) at 8:30pm on April 3rd for all the action. Only $10 at the door, and 10% of Creech earnings from the night will be donated to the Cancer Council, so not only will you be supporting local talent, but donating to a good cause.
Spread the word, and we’ll see you at the show!
Get over to the John Curtin Hotel on Lygon Street this Thursday night for a heavy dose of rock, served by our good friends Dusted Orange, Teaza, plus The Rock City Riff Raff and us (Adam, Marki and me). The bar opens at 8pm, and be sure to bring an extra $8 for the lovely door girl so she can keep the staff paid and the venue open for many more nights of fun.
Also, mark down
4 April on your calendar, when we will join the mighty Dusted Orange once more to rock Ruby’s Lounge in Belgrave.
There’s one more show in April to announce, but I’m still waiting for details and confirmation, so stay tuned. As a teaser, let’s just say it may involve the triumphant return of Melbourne rock heavyweights Creech!
Exciting times ahead. See you on Thursday.
Hi there blog rockers! We’re back in the land of Aus’ after an all-too-brief visit to our kiwi neighbours earlier this month. I realise this post is a bit late, but it takes a while to get back to reality after a week on the picturesque South Island.
The reason for our visit was to perform live at the A.R.E.A 9 Festival near Lake Ohau, (20 minutes from Twizel). This 48 hour non-stop-music event was held over the Waitangi Day long weekend and featured some of New Zealand’s finest acts, including Salmonella Dub, Rhombus, Kora, Katchafire and many more. Most of you probably know that Nitidus began with Patrick ‘PC’ Clemenger as a cover band in Christchurch, so it was an amazing ‘pilgrimage’ flying over the pond to see where all this madness began.
For myself and Adam, this was our first time in the South Island, so we spent the week leading up to the event acclimatising to the people and the places. This was also the first time we met up with PC in almost a year! Don’t worry folks, he hasn’t changed, he’s still the same rocker he ever was. Much drinking was involved.
After a week of site seeing, it was time to get the show on the road. We picked up Marki from the airport and drove direct to Twizel with only a few hours to kill before we were to hit the stage at 4:30am on Saturday 7th February (when they said 48 hours of music, they weren’t kidding). It was awesome to be back on stage, a FESTIVAL stage no less, with PC, Marki, Adam and myself cranking out the songs we’re proud to have created: The Taste, 21 Alibis, What’s It Gonna Be, Echoes, Don’t, Red Morning, So Long and more. The only thing that sucked was that the show ended! Big props to Mission Controlled for flying us over for their awesome event, have us back anytime!
We’re back in Melbourne, narrowly missing the 40+ degree heat wave (Celcius, which is over 100 degrees Fahrenheit), only to find half of Victoria burning to the ground in the tragic bush fires. Our hearts go out to those who have lost property and loved ones in this disaster… but more on that in my next post.
For now, enjoy these pictures from New Zealand (more to come).
What’s my scene? The Sandbelt Hotel in Moorabbin will be my scene when we open up the show for the one and only Hoodoo Gurus! This is your chance to see one of Australia’s greatest legends in rock history… as well as the Hoodoo Gurus.
The Hoodoo Gurus are certainly one of those classic Australian rock bands you’ve just got to check out. Our roadie Darren, a.k.a. Pecka (if you’ve been to our shows, you’ll know who Pecka is) told me that he’d seen the Hoodoo Gurus recently and they have one of the most rocking live shows he has ever seen… and Pecka has seen more than a few!
So take it from our roadie, this is a show you’ll want to see!
It’s all happening on Thursday 12th February from 7:30pm at the corner of South & Bignell Roads, Moorabbin. This is an over 18s show, so you will need photo ID at the door.
Tickets are available for just $22 (plus postage), which also entitles you to 10% off any main meal at the Sandbelt Hotel Bistro. To put it mathematically: dinner + show = a perfect pre-valentines night out! I always knew my grade 2 maths would come in handy one day.
So what are you waiting for? Get your tickets right now by clicking the button below.
[EDIT: ticket sales now closed, ‘Add to Cart’ button has been removed]
Thanks for supporting Australian rock, and we’ll see you at the show. Don’t forget to add it to your calendar.
We may be jetting off to New Zealand in about a week, but we’re not leaving before getting live and loud for Australia Day!
Actually we’ll be more ‘chilled out’ than ‘loud’, as we’re playing a special unplugged acoustic show at the Three Crowns Hotel on Sunday 25th January, a.k.a. Australia Day Eve. The weather bureau shows it could be a hot night, so it’s a perfect time to show your green and gold and sink a few tinnies with the three of us (Adam, Marki and Doctor K). In the spirit of the occasion, we’ll be belting out nothing but Australian music, so expect to hear plenty of Cold Chisel, Hoodoo Gurus, Billy Thorpe, Nitidus (hey, we’re Australian too!) and many more timeless pub classics.
Show starts at 9pm, so come down and croon with us. Check out the full details on Last.fm and be sure to add it to your calendar.
Thanks to all who came to the Ding Dong Lounge last week at such short notice for our warm up show. Now it’s time for the main event!
Thanks to Live Bat Promotions, Nitidus will headline Rock in the City on Sunday 5th October, along with some some absolute gems of Melbourne rock: Exile, Cast & Crew, Lost Angels and Crimson Face. If hearing 5 of the most rockin’ independent bands sounds like a good night, then you need to get your crew to The Espy Basement at 6:15pm. At just $5 entry, you won’t find more bang for your buck anywhere else in town.
Everyone is invited to this party, so we need you to get the word out. Grab the poster (below) and slap it on your Myspace. Share this article with your Facebook contacts. Tell your friends to come along. Blog it, share it, post it, shout it, you know what to do.
For the first time in months, Nitidus will appear on stage tonight (Wednesday 10th September) at the Ding Dong Lounge, one of the hottest indie rock venues in Melbourne! The boys have been itching to crank up the amps again for you all and couldn’t wait any longer… hell, rock and roll is meant to be spontaneous! If you’re in town tonight, head to Market Lane before 10pm to catch Adam, Marki and me Doctor K for a special warm up show. We couldn’t secure a plane ticket in time, so PC will be there in spirit, but we’re gonna have a blast anyway. Check out last.fm for details.
Don’t worry, we’ve got more shows coming, so make sure you’re subscribed to get all the updates. We’re also taking donations for the “fly PC back from New Zealand” fund, so head over to the shop and get some cool swag for a worthy cause.
Do you remember just over a month ago when we played a kick-ass rock show at Musicland in Fawkner? You may also remember that there were a bunch of fellas roaming around the venue that night with large video cameras and the words “Asylum TV” printed on their black t-shirts?
Well then, you’ll be excited to know that we just got word from the good folks at Asylum TV that they’ll be airing another episode this week, and this time it will feature that infamous performance from that fateful night. Here’s a quote from their comment post on our Myspace:
You are on Asylum tv Tuesday 2nd April 11pm Repeats Thurs 12:30 am and Sat 12 midnight all in the same week …..
This comment was posted on Wednesday March 26 2008 at 3:15 PM (OK, so I’ve been a little busy this week and haven’t checked the Myspace in a few days, sue me!). I’m sure you all noticed this by now… as I’m sure you all noticed that April 2nd is actually a Wednesday. So, what day should you tune in? Fret not kiddies, for thanks to the power of the internet, I have solved this dilema for you. According to YourTV.com.au, Asylum TV will be aired on Tuesday 1st April at 11pm AEST. Hooray!
So if you live in or near Melbourne or Geelong, be sure to tune in to Channel 31 on Tuesday night for some Nitidus action! Of course you can also tune in Thursday night or Saturday night… so you can’t miss it!
Hope you all enjoy the show, and you can tell the world what you think by posting a comment here at the Nitidus Blog.
If you haven’t checked our Flickr group lately, here are a few photos from the last Nitidus rock show. This was a sold out show at the Ferntree Gully Hotel supporting two Australian rock icons: Noiseworks and the Choirboys.
For those of you that came to the show, we hope you enjoyed the spectacle. It was certainly an eventful evening filled with some great performances by all the bands along with a few disasters… but more on that another time (I’m still too tired and angry to go into that now… and yes I know it has been 4 days already!).
