Why the sudden rush to record new tracks? Well those who have been to the shows this year will know we’ve got a lot of new stuff just waiting to be recorded, so it’s good to finally take these fan favourites from the live show and turn them into something to shake your home stereo (or iPod).

But this recording is not just for the joy of making music. It has been a poorly kept secret that Nitidus have been attracting some significant label interest in the last few months since even before our 21 Alibis tour of the USA. These new tracks will be forwarded to some very powerful folks in the music biz, potentially sealing a record deal… but more on this tantalising development later.

Never lose faith!

Last Sunday, the band commenced recording three new tracks with long-time producer Adrian Hannan (Taxi Ride, Lee Harding, The Androids). Doctor K completed drum tracking at a secret location on Sunday 19^th November, with Marki scheduled to commence bass guitar tracking on Thursday 22^nd November at The Songstore.

When we say Nitidus means honest, hard working rock band, you know we ain’t kiddin’ around. Over the last six months we have toured the United States of America, signed on new management, attended the ARIAs, rocked out with Diesel and more. Now as we prepare for the biggest rock show of 2007 with Airbourne next month… we decided it’s a good time to hit the studio. Thanks to pre-production recordings made earlier in the year, we’re able jump right in to produce some great tracks.

These tracks may form the basis of a new EP in early 2008, but no plans have been made as yet. In the meantime, check out some shots from last Sunday’s studio session:

This is the big one, the greatest rock and roll show of 2007! Nitidus will be joining the mighty Airbourne for the last show of their tour! Airbourne were nominated at this year’s ARIA Awards for best rock album and are currently on tour in the U.S.A. with their debut album Runnin’ Wild.

The rock extravaganza happens on Saturday 15^th December at the 21^st Century Club. Doors open 8pm, Nitidus hit the stage at 10pm, Airbourne at 11pm.

We’re back home in Melbourne now, hung over and exhausted after attending The 21^st Annual ARIA Awards last Sunday. It had been a full day for the band, starting with a gruelling photo shoot before sharing a 5 minute limo ride to Acer Arena with some very special folks including our lady-killer manager Dre and the lovely Donna Jordee. Nitidus stumbled out onto the red carpet to the flash of photographers and were quickly approached by TV interviewers anxious to learn more about this little rock band from Melbourne. Strolling up the carpet to the arena was a blast, all of us spotting stars and giving out Nitidus badges to screaming kids along the way.

Seeing the awards live has a whole different atmosphere than watching on TV. For one thing, there was a lot more booze! Things got interesting when PC’s demonstration on the mechanics of tennis serving was misconstrued by security as an attempt to throw a bottle at the stage, though luckily things didn’t get ugly. Sitting amongst the big players of the music industry was an eye opening experience, and we’ve certainly discovered first hand that Dre is very well connected. Four bottles of Moet, several whiskeys and countless beers later, the ceremony closed for another year, with Silverchair and Sneaky Sound System cleaning up a nice collection of pointy objects.

Then the real mayhem began at the official after party! Without revealing anything too incriminating, let’s just say that what happened at that after party will live on in Nitidus rock n’ roll infamy.

Everything from riding in the limo to walking the red carpet to hanging out with the cream of the Australian music industry… and yes, even some embarrassing moments of wild inebriated debauchery at the official ARIA after party.
